Somebody has to pay the price for the gargantuan sleazefest the Olympics has turned into, and it is an international disgrace that a physically and mentally frail CHILD has been forced to bear the weight of the whole world’s corruption.
No more! It is long past time for civilized humanity, if such a thing even exists anymore, to demand an end to the grotesque spectacle of “amateur athletes” who have had their childhoods stolen from them competing on behalf of murdering, warmaking dictatorships and infinitely greedy, giant corporations. Every inequity in the world is highlighted at these so-called games, but what better symbols of the whole foul spectacle than the American athlete who showed up with sixty pairs of skis, to compete under the all-spying eye of the genocidal Chinese regime, alongside a Russian figure-skating CHILD who was unquestionably drugged by the adults charged with caring for her? Which of these things is most obscene? The opulence, the profit-driven media frenzy, the Uyghurs languishing off-camera in concentration camps run by the “host nation,” that same regime herding the citizens of its own capital around like so many cattle in a fruitless attempt to banish the pandemic disease it had first tried to cover up, or the destroyed CHILD, clutching her teddy bear as she sobs helplessly before the entire world? The human mind won’t take in the larger tragedies, so it’s the crying girl we will all remember.
Aren’t we ashamed yet? It’s time to pull the plug on this spectacle of heartless greed and the flaunting of inhuman power.
