A letter to Verizon Customer Service
I want to thank you for removing the so-called One America Network from your cable lineup, but I insist you go further and remove Fox News as well. Fox News is merely a better funded version of OAN. If anything, it is more dangerous, as Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and other Fox “personalities” continue to spread the violent racist lie of “replacement theory.” This poisonous propaganda has already led to major terrorist attacks on a mosque in New Zealand, a synagogue in Pittsburgh, and supermarkets frequented by Latino and Black shoppers in El Paso and Buffalo.
This violent racist terrorism is tearing American society apart. Fox’s propaganda instigating it is also illegal under international law, the UN Convention on Genocide, to which the United States is a signatory. As a member of a Jewish and Latino family, Verizon’s support of this incitement to genocide directly threatens my life and the lives of my family members. I demand Verizon stop supporting it by dropping Fox from its cable lineup so that the company no longer collects lucrative carrier fees. If you won’t act, I will cancel our service and organize a nationwide boycott of Verizon.
This “cable package” and “carrier fee” problem exists at other major cable and satellite TV companies too. If we boycott them until they all agree to drop Fox News, or at least offer cable packages without these channels, we stand to make a real dent in the lucrative profits of far-right propaganda.
Please join us for weekly protests outside Fox News studios at 400 N. Capitol Street, Washington, D.C., where Tucker Carlson’s show is filmed. Protests take place every Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
