Dear Mr. President,
I grew up in an American Jewish family that has been proudly Zionist for several generations. When I was 25 in 1994, I immigrated to Israel, and was drafted into the IDF a year later.
On the Saturday night when I did my first stint of guard duty, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated, and I mourned along with all the people of Israel, or so I thought.
Two years later, I returned to the United States due to family circumstances, but I came to feel more and more Israeli over the years, especially recently as antisemitism and hatred of Israel have been growing in American society.
I am always fighting for the Jewish people and the state of Israel, and I have no tolerance for hatred of Israel on either the right or the left. Some months ago, anonymous Nazis threatened me and my family because I defended teaching the history of the Holocaust on the Internet. I think the United States is no longer a safe place for Jews.
However, it is unclear to me whether I can go back to Israel. A picture of Prime Minister Rabin hangs in an honored place in my home, and I have never supported the parties of the Israeli right. Now someone is about to be appointed an Israeli government minister who wants a law deporting anyone he considers disloyal to the state, a person who also says Rabin was a traitor who aided the enemy. So I would urgently like to know if I and Jews like me are no longer welcome in Israel. Do we have to find another country?

אני גדלתי במשפחה יהודי אמריקני, ציונים גאים כבר כמה דורות. כאשר היו לי 25 שנים בשנת 1994 עליתי ארצה, והתגייסתי לצה”ל שנה לאחר מכן.
במוצא שבת בו עשיתי את תור השמירה הראשון שלי רה”מ יצחק רבין ז”ל נרצח, ואבלתי ביחד עם כל עם ישראל, או ככה חשבתי.
שנתיים לאחר מכן חזרתי לארה”ב בשל נסיבות משפחתיות, אך הרגשתי יותר ויותר ישראלי במשך השנים, והתגעגעתי לחזור ארצה, במיוחד בזמן האחרון בו גדל האנטישמיות ושנאת ישראל בחברה האמריקנית.
אני תמיד נלחם בעד העם היהודי ומדינת ישראל ולא סובל את השנאה כלפיה, לא מאנשי הימין ולא מאנשי השמאל. לפני כמה חודשים, נאצים אלמוניים איימו עליי ועל משפחתי מפני שהגנתי על הוראת היסטוריית השואה באינטרנט. אני חושב שארה”ב כבר לא מקום בטוח ליהודים.
אך גם לא ברור לי אם אני יכול לחזור ארצה. יש לי תמונה של רה”מ רבין שנתלה במקום מכובד בבית שלי, ועף פעם לא תמכתי במפלגות הימין הישראליות. ועכשיו עולה מישהו לשר בממשלת ישראל שרוצה חוק חדש לגרש מהארץ כל מי שלא נאמן למדינה לדעתו, וגם אומר שרבין היה בוגד שסייע לאויב. לכן ברצוני לדעת באופן דחוף אם אני ויהודים כמוני כבר לא רצויים בישראל?
האם ארץ ישראל כבר לא ארצנו ואנחנו חייבים לחפש ארץ אחרת?
